I recently read that Kevin Smith, who I know most from my childhood favorite movie, Mallrats, had a massive “Widow-Maker” heart attack. He shared about his life-altering experience on Twitter:
“After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”
His story has shaken me since my dad experienced the same attack on his heart. Thankfully and miraculously he too is “above ground.” I’m sharing the story I wrote about him for SeniorAdvisor.com to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease. Read it here: The True Story about the Man with an Unstoppable Heart.
Please also take note of the following action items:
– Get an annual physical with blood work
– Take a CPR and First-Aid class
– Engage in regular, physical activity
– Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
– Make relaxation and stress relief a priority
– Hug your loved ones tight!
Take control of your health by learning about the warning signs of cardiovascular disease and most importantly, by focusing on keeping your heart strong and healthy.
